Composer and Director Ben Medler created this band as part of “Trombone Encounters”, a long term project involving the teaching and performing of the Trombone in Portland, OR. T8 presents an exceptional and unique show of Jazz inspired by the big band era, latin music, and classical repertoire. A crowd pleaser at festivals and an unparalleled group for educational performances and clinics. Trombone 8 stirs-up lots of fun energy while showcasing the many colors and styles of the trombone.

    Established in Portland in 1993 and made up of top-call musicians and alumni from the the Portland Youth Jazz Orchestra. The Medler Big Band has an extensive repertoire from swing era dance hits to intericate modern works. Song lists can be catered to any occasion.

    Youth Jazz bands of various sizes. PYJO Big Bands (16-22 pieces) work up new music seasonally and therefore may or may not be available during certain seasons. However, small groups available for gigs year-round.
